Conservation Northwest call for the immediate arrest and conviction of two men involved in the trapping and killing of two wolves from Washington’s first pack. Authorities were tipped off when a woman dropped off a FedEx package at a Walmart in Omak that was leaking blood. Yes, you read that right. It was found to contain a pelt from a freshly killed wolf - a youngster they suspect. Investigators served search warrants on Bill and Tom White of Twisp, WA, and found lots of photos of their hunting exploits such as posing with dead wolves, hunting dogs treeing cougars and bobcats, and other records of the thrill of the hunt. Nice one guys.
You can actually read the search warrant here. You might see a familiar arc here with some of the more popular Coen brothers films, like Fargo for example. A really precious moment is when Bill White claims to be unfairly targeted by the authorities because he’s opposed to wolf reintroduction in WA and had refused to allow the Forest Service on his land to look for them.
On the bright side, we can all thank Bill for showing us how not to conduct ourselves when served with a search warrant.
